Commissions
Commissioned oil portraits of families are a specialty of mine, and one of the areas of my art that I most enjoy. If you think you might be interested in commissioning a portrait, first, we can meet and discuss the idea. Then, we can plan the specifics of your portrait process. Each painting requires a slightly different process, to best suit the unique people involved, but in general, the first thing we do after deciding to go ahead is schedule a sitting.
This sitting process involves my creating reference images, which may include sketches and usually photos (this is almost always the case with portraits of children). Then I will decide what image best captures the family, to my eye, and I will create one or two small oil studies, which I will then send along to you. These will give the basic ideas for the composition for the painting.
After approval of a composition by you, I will begin work on the final painting. This usually will be completed within three to six months of the initial sitting.
Your input into the process is welcome. I have never had a commission where those closest to the subjects of the painting did not have valuable suggestions about the portrait. This is a collaborative effort, and your happiness with the final work as our shared goal.

Prices are in US Dollars. Framing is not included in price. All prices are for oil paintings on canvas (o/c) for one figure.

Additional figures are 25% per person. Examples;
a 16"x20" canvas with three figures is 3600+900+900=5400.
a 30"x40" canvas with four figures is 9000+2250+2250+2250= 15750
